Daytime TV…

We’ve hit March, the season when I watch daytime TV without giving it a second thought.  Normally, I never turn the TV on before dusk.  I’ve never been a person who watched TV news in the morning.  I have newspapers, or radio, or even the internet, so TV isn’t my choice for that kind of info.  On rare occasions, when I’ve been home sick from work and too feverish or groggy to read, I’ve looked for old movies to watch on TV.  But it’s been years since I did that.

March is another thing altogether.  Being a college basketball junkie, and somewhat obsessive about the ACC, I’m watching televised games while drinking my coffee at 10AM.  It seems wrong to drink coffee instead of beer during a ball game, but I’ve learned to adjust since I moved to the west coast a few years ago.  The good point it is that no matter how late the games run in Eastern time, it’s still relatively early here.

The ACC tournament is in full swing and I’ve spent a significant number of hours on the couch — plus there’s all the NCAA stuff to follow.  This past year I’ve been wearing a pedometer — and it’s been interesting to see how many steps I put in on normal activities like going to work, going to meetings, and running errands.  But during the tournament I don’t go anywhere and hardly get up off the couch — so my walking count is way down.  Never mind, I’ll make up for it later.  There should be a count for fidgeting or nail biting — which is what it gets down to when my team isn’t dong well.  And if I don’t have the pedometer on,  the episodes of jumping up and down don’t count either.
