Lapses in writing…

I seem to have lapsed into a pattern of writing my blog posts in my mind and rarely translating them into actual text.  I think of things I want to write about and even compose some sentences or paragraphs, but I’m doing in while walking by the river or on the streetcar heading uptown or just lying in bed.

When I was an IT project manager, I used to have a consultant who suffered from this same problem.  We would have a discussion about some piece of code but the actual writing of the code never seemed to happen.  When it would come up a few weeks later, he’d say “but didn’t we already do that…”   No, we talked about doing it and thought about doing it, but no physical action ever happened.

I have a laptop but I don’t tend to carry it around with me all that much unless I’m going to a job.  Carrying anything in the December rains in Oregon is asking for trouble unless it’s waterproof.  In theory if I put the laptop by the couch I’d write more while I’ll hibernating there on the winter nights.  But it was just more fun to watch old movies as the days got shorter and the nights longer.

But we’ve passed the solstice and there *wll* be daylight again.  So there *will* be blog entries again as well.
